Founded in 1996, Muskoka Brewery has expanded from a small staff to over 100 employees. In order to balance the actual cost of living in the region with the company’s pay rates, the company worked to implement a higher wage structure. As wages increased, the business experienced healthy growth and expanded into a larger location. In 2016, Muskoka Brewery officially became the first Living Wage brewery in Canada. The brewery team sees a healthier wage as the first step towards creating a thriving community that produces decent jobs and provides future generations with opportunities to live and work in the region.
