Support the BWA’s 2024 Queen’s Park Advocacy Day

At our 2023 Advocacy Day delegates told Ontario MPP’s how Decent Work practices have helped build solid foundations in their businesses.

This year, on May 28th, we’re meeting with the province’s top policymakers and politicians to deliver the message that Main Street Matters.

BWA businesses create good jobs that benefit the social and economic neighbourhoods we serve.  But many businesses are still deep in debt while out-of-control rent increases continue to bury viable enterprises. This is creating coffin blocks of vacant storefronts across Ontario.

So it’s time to level the playing field.

Our Message in 2024: We can’t create & maintain decent work jobs if we can’t pay the rent!

We can influence MPPs by giving them a vote of confidence on decent work standards.  And raise awareness of the major financial uncertainties facing our businesses and communities.  For that reason we think this year it is especially important to lean into the Commercialrent.ca campaign.

That’s why your contribution is critical in shaping provincial policy – and making sure that prosperity flows into communities through jobs and stable commerce.  Here’s how you can contribute to making our Advocacy Day at Queen’s Park a success:

1. Attend the Event: The best way you can support small businesses is to join us at Queen’s Park.  Your voice has a place in this conversation. We’re giving you the platform to advocate for your values. The more BWA leaders in attendance, the stronger our voice becomes – and the closer we get to policies that level the playing field for locally owned businesses.
